Banksy (Animated) Love This

I love that Banksy appropriated Keith Haring‘s dog.  I met Keith when I was a freshman at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.  He was gracious, very cool and painted an original image on the back of my black motorcycle jacket which I cherish to this day (snapshot below).

Loving Ben Howard & Crazy P

An ardent fan and member of KCRW (who’s turned me on to a wide range of amazing music) I heard Ben Howard a few weeks ago and his new album Every Kingdom album has become my new musical obsession (along with Crazy P’s new release  When We On).

The Land of Decoration by Grace McCleen

Granted a novel written in the voice of a ten year old motherless little girl sounds terribly cloying and extremely annoying but I  caught this review in the New York Times, was intrigued so I downloaded it into my Kindle (immediate gratification is one great by product of ownership).

Grace McCleen has crafted an elegant novel through the voice of a 10 year old girl who drops surprisingly poetic gems.

“Perhaps his idea of a perfect day vanished a long time ago and he has forgotten how to imagine a new one”

“I wondered what it would be like to die, was it like going to sleep or like waking up?”

Having  devoured this piece of fiction and having loved every page of it I am left kinda surprised and perhaps a little embarrassed (I mean honestly, look at the cover, you don’t get much more girly than that) but there you have it, I loved The Land of Decoration so long live sentiment and irony be damned  (for now).

Hiking in the Redwoods

This week it’s hiking in the Redwoods.

I started early when the park opened because I wanted to hear the silence of the Redwoods when no one was around (amazing).

When returning to the parking lot I saw a little girl and her dad getting out of their car:

LITTLE GIRL: “Daddy is that smell ointment?”

DAD: “No honey, that’s the Redwoods”.

Hiking in Palm Springs

I ran away to Palm Springs last week and went on a long, amazing hike.  After finding a creek, jumping in and starting the trek back I found this “sculpture” created by another hiker.

Angel Laws From Concrete Loop

While still at BuzzMedia I met Angel and her family in South Carolina before she moved to New York. Before moving to Alloy there were three deals BuzzMedia needed my help to close; one involving BuzzMedia and Concrete Loop, one involving Kim Kardashian and BuzzMedia and last involving BuzzMedia and Ford.

Eighteen months after leaving Buzz it was great to catch up with Angel and see how she’s thriving in New York City and how well the relationship with Buzz is working out.

Angel has an artist’s soul, a brilliant future and don’t forget to check out her book (I was really touched to find my name in the acknowledgements).

My favorite photo below.

Kim Kardashian Look Alike Contest With A Twist!

This was a programming idea I developed for Kim’s official site that postioned real girls that look like Kim Kardashian against drag queens that look like Kim Kardashian with users voting on celebuzz. This internet programming idea drove tons of engagement and pageviews and got kicked off on The Tyra Banks show (video clip below is pretty funny).
